Education
• 1974–1976: Theological and philosophical studies
at the Institut d’Etudes Théologiques (IET) in Brussels,
with the Jesuits of the French speaking Province of Brabant in
Belgium.
• 1977–1978: Pastoral practice, obligatory part of the Jesuit study
program, in the diocese of Copenhagen, Denmark.
• 1978–1981: Theological and philosophical studies continued at
the IET, ending with the De universa and corresponding
to the degree of the Baccalaureate in theology.
• 1981–1985: Theological studies (in French) at the Université Catholique
de Fribourg in Switzerland (Speciality: Systematic theology, St. Thomas Aquinas)
ending with the degree of Licenciate in Sacred Theology, summa cum laude.
• 1985–1992: Theological studies at the Pontificia Universita S.
Tommaso d’Aquino in Urbe, or Angelicum, in Rome.
• June 1995: Doctorate in S. Theology, magna cum laude. Dissertation: ‘Le
primat de la vie contemplative par rapport à la vie active dans la Somme
de Théologie de saint Thomas d’Aquin, II-II, qu. 179 et 182,
et ses sources principales’. - It includes the primacy in this life of
the apostolic life, consisting in an ‘overflowing of charity and contemplation’ urging
the contemplative to the apostolic activity: ‘contemplata aliis tradere’.
Service for the Church
• 1990–1992: Theological
assistant of Prof. Dr. Christoph Schönborn, O.P., University
of Fribourg (CH) for his work as the secretary of redaction of
the Catechism of the Catholic
Church. This work continued after Dr. Schönborn was
appointed auxiliary bishop of Vienna. In 1992 the Catechism was
promulgated in French.
• 1993–Present: Continuing work for the Catechism consisting
in: doctrinal examination of translations including the typical
edition in Latin (promulgated in 1997); correcting of second editions; answering
of questions; etc.
• 2001-2004: Visiting Professor of Dogmatic Theology at the International
Theological Institute (ITI), teaching S. Thomas Aquinas and the Catechism
of the Catholic Church.
• 2002-2004: Appointed as one of the three members of the Redaction Committee
of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church under
the presidency of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. Pope Benedict XVI
promulgated the Compendium in
2005.
• 2004 – Present:
Assistant Professor of Dogmatic Theology at the ITI.
